About

Bath Snowsports gives it's members the opportunity to take part in various snow related disciplines at either recreational or competitive levels. From slalom racing for both skiers and boarders, to freestyle events, and even a casual visit to the slopes, we cater for everyone.

Club History

The club has grown vastly over the last few years, each year attracting more and more members on its trips. We've had an increasing involvement in the British universities snowsports scene, and take part in nearly every even run by BUSC (British Universities Snowsports Council). We've been the largest sports club over the last few years, generally with around 500-600 members annually!

Membership

Snowsports is a bit different to other clubs at the University in that we offer two different types of membership. The two different memberships cater for those who just want to come along to the socials or the trips, and to those who want to compete and train regularly. Have a look at the two types below and see what best suits you!

Social Membership

There’s more to Snowsports than just sport. Come join the biggest and best club at Bath University without having to do all the sporty stuff!

Join as a social Member and you’ll get:

Free T-Shirt + Membership pack (for the first 700 members)

Cheap ISB + Easter ski trips
Discounted Lessons
Taster race training session

Cost: £5

You DON'T need to join the Sports Association to be a social member!

To sign up, you can either:

Come to the Amphitheatre by the lake on Wed the 30th of Sept
Come to the Sports Fair on Tues the 6th of Oct
Stop off at our stand outside the library during freshers week
Sign up to Snowsports Social membership on Bath Student

Full Membership

Fancy giving racing or freestyle a go? We compete at all levels from beginner to pro in a massive range of events throughout the year!

Join as a Full Member and you’ll get:

Cheap ISB + Easter ski trips
Discounted Lessons

Subsidised race and freestyle training sessions

How to join:

To become a full member, you will first need to join the Sports Association
Once you’ve done that, then head to Bath Student and sign up to Snowsports Full membership
Come to one of our membership events and collect your T-shirt + Membership pack!

If you sign up online, you can come to one of the membership events above to collect your T-shirt + Membership pack. Alternatively ask a committee member nicely and they’ll sort you out!

Already a social member but want to become a full member? No worries! You can get a refund of your £5. Just drop us an email

Committee

President	Tom "Yorkie" Trevelyan	Politics with Economics	4th year
Having taken a break from committee duties last year, pandering to the needs of european businessmen in Brussels, Yorkie returns to head up this year's committee. Despite being recently acquitted of aggressive spooning and with an unhygienic obsession with festival wristbands, Yorkie is the quintessential essence of Bath Snowsports. Just be careful when you're out with him.. stray too close and you'll be sucked into his dance-master vortex.
Vice President	Daniel "Wingman" Broadberry	Physics	4th year
Often seen sporting a rather fetching yellow tutu, and an occasionally befuddled expression, Wingman is Yorkie's right hand man (there's a joke there somewhere..). With a wealth of trip knowledge at his fingertips, if there's anything you need answering, he's your man!
Ski Captain	Jennie "Jed" McConnell	BBA	4th year
With her stupendous ability for storytelling and unnatural fear of eggs, Jennie has been heralded as the fastest person to come out of Wales since some pretty quick, running guy.. She is our most experienced racer and, when not indulging in her hobby of off-pisting, will be endeavouring to steer our illustrious ski team to glory this year.
Board Captain	Robert "Village" Hans Wagner	Physics	3rd year
For reasons best left unknown, Village returns to the committee for a second year and is still an offence to the human race. His approach to new hobbies akin to that of a pubescent magpie, he'll dabble in anything that tickles his pickle. Apart from when moonlighting as a stripper or attending duck and goose seminars in Poland, Village can be found obsessing over nipples whilst finding exciting, new ways to damage himself making him the perfect man for the job!
Media	James "Pomegranate" Berry	Elec Eng	3rd year
Known for his tolerance of abuse and the lack of a real nick-name, Berry even has a day named in his honour; Bully Berry Wednesday. Frequently found dribbling in the corner with no idea of the whereabouts of either himself or his clothes, and rarely without a full-body facepaint coating, Berry is tasked with keeping the website and other technical matters in order.
Marketing	Andrew "Barnesly" Barnes	Maths	2nd year
Barnesly has a natural talent for bus-sleepage, and can often be seen partaking in his specialist hobby of fly-catching. He has an unrivalled Blue Peter-esque ability to knock up a fancy dress costume and is the guy behind our sick promo and hoodie designs this year!
Social	Clare "Fennick" Fenwick	Politics with Economics	2nd year
Clare brings two main assets to this years committee.. couple this with enough enthusiasm to power a large mechanical marmotte, we've got one helluva social sec. No stranger to having a good time, this dinosaur lover is in charge of making sure our socials run tickety-boo.. easier said than done.
Treasurer	Jamie "Brickface" Richards	Economics	2nd year
As our treasurer, Jamie's mad number skills are obviously a plus.. however, as UK kickboxing champion, his ability to recover debts with powerful 'arguments' is also fairly useful. If invited to a game of head fives, accept at your own risk..
