Freestyle skiing and snowboarding has seen a big rise in popularity in recent years. We participate in freestyle events on dryslope, at the snow dome and on real snow at the BUSC main event. These events include:
Big Air
Not one for the feint of heart (or to drunkenly agree to enter), the Big Air events typically involve hurtling over a jump, flying several metres in the air, with the winner being the one who hurts themselves the least. Okay, so there's a bit more to it than that, but the general idea is to do as many flips / spins / cool grabs as possible!
Slope Style
Slope Style courses usually have a mixture of rails, jibs and jumps. The goal is to create the best combination of tricks in one run. Simple!
Half Pipe
Half Pipe is pretty self explanatory, get as much air as you can whilst showing off your steez!
Skier/Boarder cross
A mixture of Slalom and freestyle in this fun event, four racers compete simultaneously, navigating a course of banked turns, jumps and hips with slalom gates thrown in for good measure!
